Kids! You Gotta Love'em!
As an elementary counselor, the students and I often exchange high-fives, pats, or hugs. One afternoon as I walked down the hallway, I met two giggling sisters headed toward the school office, backpacks loaded and coats swinging from their arms.
As the happy, chattering two-some drew nearer to me, I squatted to the floor and threw my arms open wide. The girls dropped their gear, fell into my arms, and wrestled each other for the deepest hug. I took both my hands and simultaneously tousled the mops of blonde curls.
"Now, where do you two cutie-pies think you are going?" I inquired. Still giggling and short of breath from the tussle, the eldest gasped, "We’re going home. We have head lice."
